Pearl Academy of Fashion has set up the Pearl Centre for Development to assist artisans in the crafts and textiles sector. The micro enterprises in this sector are playing a leading role in the domestic as well as export markets. The total export from the sector annually is about 5 billion dollars and it is expected that it will achieve a growth rate of 20% per annum in the next 5 years.
The Pearl Centre for Development provides the following support services:
- Capacity building programmes for micro enterprise development and sustainability.
- Cluster Development initiatives such as cluster oriented design and marketing, projects and workshops.
- Market oriented research and benchmarking for textile made-ups and crafts.
- Branding and awareness projects.
- Outreach activities such as training in design and technology transfer.
- Design and fashion forecasting for clothing and home textiles.
This Division is specifically meant for development of clusters/micro enterprises which will benefit the poor and deprived sections of the community.
