Jairam Ramesh Calls on Pearl Academy to set up an institute in Guwahati
on the eve on their CONVOCATION ceremony
~Pearl Academy to set up residential campuses in Chennai & Delhi by 2008 ~
New Delhi, September 18, 2007: Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF), India’s leading fashion & textile institute organised its Convocation ’07 ceremony. Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Jairam Ramesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and conferred degrees and professional diplomas to the graduating students of seven courses. Addressing the 15th Convocation of Pearl academy of Fashion, Shri Jairam Ramesh invited Pearl Academy of Fashion to set up a design institute in Guwahati and Srinagar.
“Trained human resource is the need of the industry and institutes like Pearl Academy of Fashion should spread their wings to more parts of India", stated Shri Jairam Ramesh. He also urged faculty & the budding designers of Pearl Academy of Fashion to collaborate with craftsmen and take forward government sponsored cluster development programmes more effectively.
On the occasion of the 15th Convocation, 148 students from Delhi and Jaipur centres graduated from Pearl Academy.
Congratulating the graduates, Chairman, Pearl Academy of Fashion, Mr. Deepak Seth said, “The young entrepreneurs and professionals have the task ahead to not only manage India’s fashion business growth, but also to protect the integrity and rich heritage of the textiles and crafts of our country. Our traditional skills need resurgence through contemporarisation by using new design ideas, branding and technology support.”
Mr. A K G Nair, Group Director - Pearl Academy of Fashion announced, “Academy’s residential campus at Kukas institutional area, Jaipur is under construction and will be ready by December 2007. The promoters of our Educational Society under the Chairmanship of Mr. Deepak Seth have donated 5-acres of land in Faridabad near Delhi and 3-acres of land in Sriperumbudur in Chennai to develop full-fledged campuses for PAF by 2008. We are actively working to expand into Mumbai & Kolkata also by 2009.” |
