Pearl Academy of Fashion organises CONVOCATION ‘07

~Pearl Academy to set up residential campuses in Chennai & Delhi by 2008 ~
New Delhi, Sept 13, 2007: Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF), India’s leading fashion & textile institute organised its Convocation ’07 ceremony. Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Jairam Ramesh graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and conferred degrees and professional diplomas to the graduating students of seven courses.
On the occasion of the 15th Convocation, 148 students from Delhi and Jaipur centres graduated from Pearl Academy. The students were from following courses of two year and four durations : PG Diploma in Apparel Management Programme (AMP), Fashion Retail (FR), PG Diploma in Fashion Design Indian Wear (FDIW) – Delhi and JAIPUR, BA (H) Degree in Textile Design (TD), Communication Design (CD) and UG Diploma in Fashion & Media Make-Up.
Addressing the graduating batches, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Jairam Ramesh said that the graduating students have opportunities aplenty in India. “Textile and Apparel Industry has been viewed as an engine of growth in most economies of the world. It has a lot of potential for the developing countries particularly India where it has played an important role in exports, generation of employment, and strengthening of our rural and agro base. Pearl Academy of fashion has been instrumental in shaping wonders of fashion industry that are taking India global and contributing to the Indian economy. I wish all the students a successful future:”
Congratulating the graduates, Chairman, Pearl Academy of Fashion, Mr. Deepak Seth said, “I congratulate the students who have graduated this year and have already taken position in the Textiles and Clothing Industry. I also congratulate the proud parents of the graduating students who have guided their children to a career in the fashion and apparel sector.”
He further added, ”In today’s convocation, the Degrees & Diplomas that are being conferred to you are a confirmation of your status as professionals. To be a professional carries with it certain responsibilities. Your task ahead is not only to manage India’s Fashion business growth, but also to protect the integrity, distinctive character and rich heritage of the textiles and crafts of our country. Our traditional skills need resurgence through contemporariorisation by using new design ideas, branding and technology support. You have a wonderful opportunity to use your knowledge and creativity to breathe new life into our craft sector.”
Mr. AKG Nair, Group Director- Pearl Academy of Fashion announced “Academy’s residential campus at kukas institutional area, Jaipur is under construction and will be ready by December 2007. The promoters of our Educational Society under the Chairmanship of Mr. Deepak Seth have donated 5-acres of land in Faridabad near Delhi and 3-acres of land in Sriperumbudur in Chennai to develop full-fledged campuses for PAF by 2008. We are actively working to expand into Mumbai & Kolkata also by 2009.” |
