Pearl Academy of Fashion presents Synthesis ‘07
Presentation of Award Winning Research Projects by Apparel Management Students
New Delhi, June 6th, 2007: Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF), India’s premier fashion institute today organised Synthesis ’07 – an annual presentation of award-winning research conducted by its Apparel Management students. The presentations represented the best of the research conducted by the students of the two- year post graduate Apparel Management programme (AMP).
Synthesis’07 witnessed huge industry gathering from organisations like Li & Fung, Triburg, Marks & Spencers, YKK, RMX Joss and Gaurav International among others. More than 80 senior industry delegates attended the event and appreciated students in-depth research conducted. Industry representatives acknowledged PAF’s curriculum which includes theoretical knowledge with practical training in turn making the best professionals in the field.
Delighted with the students’ work Ms. Vandana Ahuja, HR Head, Li & Fung said, “The presentation concepts are really innovative and are in sync with the industry demands. We have many PAF students working with us and this year too we have absorbed many students from the graduating batches. Synthesis is a good platform for students who want to join the industry as it will not only boost students’ confidence but even help them gaining practical knowledge of industrial techniques.”
Congratulating the award-winning students, Mr. A.K.G, Group Director – Pearl Academy of Fashion said, “The apparel industry involves complex operations that require certain special skills and the programme is designed to address this industry requirements and aims to train students in comprehensive practical skills. The Cash prize of Rs. 25,000/- for the Best Overall project was awarded to Maria Usmani for her research on topic - A step forward to bring in awareness of Product safety norms in kids wear. The Most Innovative and Practical Project awards of Rs 10, 000 each were awarded to Anshul Mittal, Karan Bajaj and Punita Sahi for topics (respectively): To understand the affect of Pester Power on the buying Behaviour of Kids wear Consumer & advising a model to plan kids wear merchandise mix accordingly: Inventory Management-How does Inventory Management Increases Profits for an Organisation: Reducing rejections in the Garment dyeing process.
Pearl Academy’s Apparel Management programme (AMP) covers modules on components of basic fibres; fibre/ yarn types and properties; dyeing, printing and finishing and a basic understanding of merchandising functions; key aspects of production, advanced understanding of weaves and knits; research methodology; textile testing benchmarks and requirements; CAD /CAM applications among others. It’s a two year diploma for the post graduates. |
