There are a few images, which come under the heading of fashion photography but deal not only in fashion but also social realities. In many cases the frame of the photograph being flexible in such a way that it is being a critic of itself. So the complex planning of a photograph makes the spectators viewing difficult. It changes its pace when you change the perception.
The photographs of Rohan, particularly deal with fashion in a range of manner dealing with the surreal to the postmodern movements. The images evoke multiplicity of reading, which makes the image always contemporary. It creates a kind of mystery, ambiguity and a lot of speculation about the space. Another photograph is very dramatic in its nature of lighting and angle chosen for capturing. Ashish Khattar’s images are sharp product shots dematerialised through splashes and reflections that confront narrative elements in Girish’s black and white pictures. Girish has started his studio practice with lot of enthusiasm towards Fashion photography and took a leap towards higher level of creative sensibilities. This makes a complex positioning of his photographs between Fashion and Art. Rohan Sadan explores the possibilities of lighting and compositions with his product photographs. Finding new angles to make shots exceptional becomes Rohans’s speciality. Another graduating photographer, Tanushree Baruah has shown some conventional shots of Jama Masjid with very unconventional frames. It reveals her ability to communicate a location and its social, religious and cultural ambience and some mysteries. |
