Global Fashion Leaders congregate at Continuum 06
New Delhi , February 22, 2006 : Pearl Academy of Fashion and Nottingham Trent University, Britain, today launched Continuum ’06, an international conference on the ‘Challenges of Global Fashion Leadership’. More than 100 fashion brand leaders gathered at the conference, which is the start of a series of events dwelling on the evolving directions and future perspectives on fashion and design. The conference was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Shankar Sinh Vaghela.
Supported by Liberty Shoes Ltd, Continuum ’06 marks the completion of a decade of collaboration between the Academy and Nottingham Trent University , a partnership that has involved vetting of curricula, course design and faculty exchanges. The conference witnessed international participation from fashion houses, high-end brands, retailers, academia, media and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shankar Sinh Vaghela said, “ I congratulate Pearl Academy of Fashion in its endeavours to meet the need for professionally trained manpower for the Indian textile and fashion industry. As India stands on the edge of the global fashion frontier, this collaboration looks can play a critical role in helping the Academy create the leadership required to usher India into the fashion universe of the future. “
Expressing his views on Continuum 2006, Pearl Academy of Fashion Group Director Mr. A.K.G. Nair said, “Continuum ’06 is a series of events organised in Delhi to celebrate the innovativeness in design in the decade gone by and to launch the creative excitement of the decade ahead. The objective is to bring together our associates, including alumni, international partners and faculty, on a common platform and meaningfully engage our industry icons.”
International speakers at the conference included Prof. John Williams, Founding Director of Wolff Olins, a brand consultancy firm, Ms Anne Lise Kjaer, Lifestyle researcher; Prof. Edward Newton, Chairman, International Foundation of Fashion Institutes, Mr. Pascal Morand, Director General IFM, France, Mr. Christopher Sanderson, Creative Director, Future Laboratory, UK; Ms. Sue Keen; Director of Fashion Map, Nottingham Trent University, Mr. Jayant Kochar, MD of Amorettos India, Mr David Abraham, noted fashion designer and Ms Rachna Joshi Nair, Former Product Manager, Louis Vitton.
