Designers can’t go super-wild”- says Rina Dhaka, renowned fashion designer
New Delhi , January 2, 2006 : Pearl Academy of Fashion, India’s finest institute for fashion and retail industry, brings together the eminent fashion designers of India and the students of Stanford University for a discussion on the Indian Fashion industry. The interaction was a platform for the students of Stanford University who are on their India Study Tour, to meet idols of the India Fashion and share the experiences and opportunities in the global fashion industry.
Fashion Gurus like Rina Dhaka, Tarun Tahiliani, Ravi Bajaj, Suneet Verma and PAF faculty shared their views on evolution of fashion in India , the development of fashion collections and the evolving fashion industry.
Ms. Faiza Seth, Student and spokesperson, India Study Tour, Stanford University , said on the occasion, “This interaction will help us in understanding the Indian fashion industry and give us (students) tools to understand market demand in the constantly changing world of fashion. It was indeed one of the most exciting and meaningful interactions of India Study Tour ”
Ms. Rina Dhaka, Fashion Designer, said, “Fashion is more of a service industry now in terms of dealing with a customer. The industry is becoming more professional, it is shaping up, getting its act together, but each of us is doing it all on our own, hence the designers can’t go super wild on their designs.”
In her presentation on Evolving Business of Fashion, Ms. Lily Maria Sanyal, Design Faculty, Pearl Academy of Fashion, said “ Besides providing quality education, the Pearl Academy aims to foster the students’ talents through practical knowledge and competitive experience, which would groom them for success in the real world! And also help them develop as complete individuals. It’s a platform for the Academy to exchange views with the students from Stanford University and distinguished Fashion Designers from India. ”
