Areas of Consultancy : Garment – Knits, Wovens & Home Furnishings

Garment Consultancy:
We have the most comprehensive Consultancy Division available in the country. There are two types of Consultancy:

  1. Running Organization:
    We can evaluate the running industry and prepare a SWOT ANALYSIS. Based on the weaknesses of the organization we can help in Re-engineering the various departments. Our consultants can help in the development of the various functional areas of the organization such that they are able to match International excellence.
  2. New Organization:
    We can help the organization on a turn-key basis to establish a new manufacturing unit.

Project Phase

I. Architectural Support Services
Under this group, the following list of sub-groups of architectural services can be provided.

a) Preliminary stage

  • Identifying project parameters based on client needs.
  • Formulating spatial programme.

b) Conceptual stage

  • Preliminary building layouts for clients review.
  • Environmental studies.
  • Identifying and sourcing specialized building hardware and equipment.
  • Broad cost estimates.

c) Development stage

  • Detailed building plans identifying on each floor material flow, general machine layout, workers' and administration movement and facilities.
  • Material handling and material movement systems from receipt of raw materials to dispatch of finished products
  • Final assessment of space requirement, both for production and non-production areas.
  • Broad structural design to ascertain the sizes and pattern of structural components.
  • Internal plumbing and internal water supply layouts.
  • Preparing landscape design including layouts of hard and soft areas, water bodies, etc..

d) Government and other statutory approval

  • Preparing documents and assisting the client in making applications for governmental and statutory approvals, as may be necessary.

e) Building design and construction

  • developing and finalizing detailed building design and specification including internal and external finishes, specialized flooring for each activity. Detailed internal plumbing and internal water supply layouts.
  • coordinating inputs from other specialist consultants into the building design to ensure proper integration of all building and technical services.
  • inviting construction bids on behalf of the client and advising him on the selection of the contractor.
  • supervising building construction, monitoring cash flow and time schedules, making periodic project reviews and preparing status reports for the use of the client.
  • interior design including design and furniture, furnishings and graphics for each activity.
  • preparing.

f) Other utilities, as required

  • acoustics and noise control.

II. Engineering Services Support

System design working drawings, detailed purchasing specification, preparing documents to move applications to government for statutory compliances and site coordination work shall be made available for the following :

a) Overall plot plan recommendations.

b) Machinery layout for production floors, exact location of each type of machine including boilers, pressing tables, washing machines etc.

c) Material flow chart.

d) Detailed engineering design of complete electrical power receiving and distribution system including standby dg sets. This includes electric substation, ht panel, transformer, main lt panel, distribution boards, underground and overhead cable raceways, power & control cabling, earthing, load balancing, cabling size, conduits and fittings etc.

e) Specialized lighting design for production lines and all other areas.

f) Planning and detailed designs for utilities like water supply, steam, compressed air etc. Including all equipment, piping and controls.

g) Water treatment plant - as required, borewell, sump and overhead tanks.

h) Waste water treatment plant planning and design in accordance with pollution board standards.

i) Heating / ventilation and air-conditioning system design and specifications.

j) Fire alarm system / fire fighting system including hydrant design and specifications.

k) Security alarm system including cctv design and specifications.

l) Telephone / computer system including LAN and structured cabling.

m) Air washer / curtains for production halls and other areas.

n) HVAC (heating ventilation & air conditioning) for office & production halls for required areas.

III. Production Engineering

a) The consultants shall provide complete layout of all machinery on all floors for effective utilization of factory space. This would incorporate advise on layout of sewing machines, testing lab, power generation, steam generation, compressed air, effluent treatment, etc.

b) The consultants shall advise on purchase of various machines required for cutting, fusing, sewing, finishing etc.

c) Material handling system including trolley movement plan right from the receipt of raw materials upto final dispatch of finished goods.

d) Exact space requirements for all operation areas.

e) The consultants shall also provide furniture and fixture design.

IV. Compliance of buying house requirements

For the purposes of buying house compliance, the consultants shall advise the clients on the requirement of one buying house and if the clients require preparation for more than one, they shall work out the details on the same basis.

The areas which would addressed are:

a) production norms

b) quality control systems

c) social obligations

d) environment norms

e) computerization standards

PRODUCTION STAGE

I. Production planning & control
The consultants shall advise on the various formats, daily reports and production analysis reports which the clients have to incorporate for recording daily, weekly and monthly cumulative production of all cutting, production and finishing departments.

a) The consultants shall help the clients to develop various systems required for cutting,
sewing and finishing floors.

b) Grading of operators and tailors.

c) Scheduling and sequencing.

d) Line balancing.

e) Usage of guides and attachments

II. Manpower resource planning:

a) the following details are part of HRD consultancy:

  • Manpower planning
  • Recruitment advising services
  • Training

b) as per the business plan and projections of the clients, the consultants shall assist in formulating a HRD policy, help in preparation of organization charts, reporting systems & job description of each manager, supervisor and staff. The consultants shall also assist in preparing an employee manual.

c) if the clients desire recruitment advisory service the consultants shall provide help to recruit the suitable personnel for all senior management positions, supervisory staff etc. The advertisement costs for inviting applications shall be borne by the clients. The advertisement matter calling for the application to the various posts shall also be developed by the consultants.

d) the final appointment shall be made by clients who shall also conduct the final interview. The salary and other terms and conditions would also be decided by the clients. The consultants would also assist in drafting the requisite appointment letter for each individual along with the job description of each manager and supervisor.

e) the training programme shall be carried out in providing information related to all aspects of the job and various allowances and facilities that the company would be providing to the staff members as defined in the detailed employee manual developed by the consultants.

III. Sampling, merchandising & costing:

We shall help in developing the merchandising systems and the manuals. All systems of managing samples and evaluating costs at different levels can also be provided.


IV. Purchase of fabric & accessory:

Vendor analysis and fabric/accessory purchase systems will be developed in consultation with the clients. The specifications would be provided by the consultants to help in the continuation of present systems and effect vital improvements:

a) vendor evaluation and analysis.

b) purchase specifications.

c) decentralized / centralized purchase system.

d) reporting systems.

e) minimum stock and re-order levels, credit period and ABC grading of vendors.

V. Inventory management:

a) abc analysis

b) inventory audits

c) storage and material handling.

d) minimum stock level

e) slow moving stock, dead stock analysis.

f) issue and control of material to production and other departments.

g) sales tax - local & central

h) automatic debit notes.

VI. Quality control systems:

The consultants shall assist the clients in developing detailed quality control charts. Consultants shall make a quality manual and train the operational persons on the methodology of recording and working towards quality improvement.

The consultants shall also train suitable auditors to carryout quality audit within the organization on a regular basis.

The quality system shall also incorporate the following:

a) Specific buyer's requirements for quality.

b) Accessory quality inspection.

c) Fabric quality inspection.

d) In-process inspection and final inspection and analysis

e) Aql standards establishment.

f) Quality documentation.

VII. Total productive maintenance (TPM):

a) The consultants shall help in planning daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly schedule of various machines and equipment with the aim of moving towards TPM.

b) Establishing systems to bring about minimum equipment down time & minimize maintenance cost.

c) Establishing systems to provide maximum plant safety and good work environment.

d) Data bank on parts change

e) Annual painting for preventing of rust


VIII. Performance evaluation management:

a) The consultants shall help in developing systems of evaluating performance on a daily basis, monthly & annual basis of individuals and linking increments to work output.

b) Reducing subjective evaluation and making it objective.

c) Benchmarking different levels of performance and planning incentive and awards for managers, supervisors & workmen.

IX. Knitwear

1. We can advice on the latest trends in knitwear.

2. Knitwear yarn development.

3. Knitwear machinery for higher productivity.

4. Technology for manufacture of technical textiles meant for specialised uses like active
sportswear, medical etc.

5. Technology for manufacturing of high quality knitwear fabrics and garments.

6. Latest trends is dyeing and processing of knitwear fabrics.

X. Testing lab:

The consultants shall help in establishing a testing lab for both fabrics and accessories. They shall also advise on the methodology of testing and quality control procedures.
The testing lab would cater to color matching, pilling test, color fastness, dry/wet rubbing fastness, light fastness, GSM testing, tensile strength etc.

XI. Washing:

The consultants shall advise on the methodology of washing using various chemicals and purchase of washing and dry-cleaning equipment:

a) Usage of de-sizing & bleaching for garment washing.

b) Usage of different enzymes for garment washing.

c) Precautions to be observed while treating garments like time, ph & temperatures.

d) Softness and dosages.

e) Latest finish like wrinkle resistant, anti-microbial and fragrance finishes for garments.

f) Dyeing problems and cost control in finishing.

XII. Cad:

a) Training personnel in usage of cad.

b) Construction of basic patterns using body measurements of different sizes, digitize existing basic block patterns.

c) Alter patterns as per required styles, grade related patterns as per size chart.

d) Make markers with graded patterns according to given ratio, width of fabric, weight of fabric etc.

e) Help in reducing cost and improve the efficiency of information management.


XIII. Training the trainer

Operator Training
The consultant shall send their training expert to the factory of the clients for training the trainer. Once the trainer is trained he can carry out the task of continuously training the operators.
The consultants would help in establishing methodology of training, techniques of training, motivation and other factors related to training.

Training programme would be as follows:

a) Basic skill development exercises

b) Basic operating skills

c) Small parts changing skills

d) Basic understanding of materials

e) Maintenance of workstation and equipment

f) Type of stitches

g) Single part garment exercises

h) Full garment exercise

i) Multiple cycle and stamina exercise

j) Visual standards

Advanced training

a) Training in advanced techniques

b) Bundling system

c) Folders and attachment usage

d) Specialised machinery

e) Other training on motivation etc.
