CONTEMPO 07, AN EVENT BY ALL STUDENTS OF Pearl Academy of Fashion, Chennai, saw exhibits of students of Fashion and Textile design. It was a beautiful representation of student’s lateral thinking and their ability to be different from the other. Each student individuality and as a group, presented the first semester work in the form of thoughts and products which enhances lifestyles.


Contemporary depiction of ancient civilization, inspiration from art from the West and the East, visual representations, painting, sculptures, curios, accessories and even apparel design were all on display giving a whole event a creative high.

“The mind mapping, the basic designs, the final culmination of the group’s effort and the products that could be made with that design is what is in the display. This way a viewer gets an idea of how the final product is actually arrived at”, explains Shivani Ganesh, Student, as she shows her work on split personality.

Small articles like string of thread or a broken piece of mirror and even old maxazine cutouts have gained importance in the works of students, which have been made into functional lifestyle accessories.
